Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Dyna-Glo heaters, fuel types, sizing, and where to buy.
What types of heaters does Dyna-Glo make?
Dyna-Glo offers wall heaters (blue flame and infrared), forced air heaters (gas and kerosene), patio heaters, portable heaters, cabinet heaters, indoor kerosene heaters, tank top heaters, and electric garage heaters. Models range from 6,000 BTU for small rooms up to 650,000 BTU for large construction sites.
What is the difference between blue flame and infrared heaters?
Blue flame heaters warm the air in a room using convection — similar to central heating. They heat the entire space evenly. Infrared heaters emit radiant heat that warms objects and people directly, similar to the sun. Infrared heaters provide more focused, immediate warmth and are ideal for spot heating.
Are Dyna-Glo wall heaters vent-free?
Yes, most Dyna-Glo wall heaters are vent-free. They require no chimney, flue, or external venting. All vent-free models include an Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) that automatically shuts the heater off if oxygen levels drop below safe limits.
Do Dyna-Glo heaters require electricity?
Most Dyna-Glo wall heaters, portable heaters, and kerosene heaters do NOT require electricity. This makes them excellent backup heating options during power outages. Electric garage heaters and some forced air models do require a power connection.
What is the difference between propane (LP) and natural gas models?
Propane (LP gas) heaters use portable propane tanks or a home propane supply. Natural gas heaters connect to your home's natural gas line. You must use the fuel type the heater is designed for — fuel conversion is not permitted on most Dyna-Glo models. Make sure to select the correct fuel type when purchasing.
What does "thermostat" mean on wall heater models?
Some Dyna-Glo wall heater models include a built-in thermostat with 5 adjustable comfort settings. This automatically maintains your desired temperature. Models without a thermostat have a manual LOW-MED-HI variable control knob.
Can I use a wall heater in a mobile home?
Some Dyna-Glo heaters are certified for mobile home use — check the specific model's specifications. Mobile-home-approved models meet additional safety standards required for manufactured housing.
Where can I buy Dyna-Glo heaters?
Dyna-Glo heaters are widely available on Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, Tractor Supply, and other retailers. We track prices and link to the best deals on each product page.
What size heater do I need?
As a general rule: 10,000 BTU heats up to 300 sq ft, 20,000 BTU heats up to 700 sq ft, and 30,000 BTU heats up to 1,000 sq ft. For garages and workshops, you may need more BTU due to less insulation. Check the comparison tables on each category page to find the right model for your space.
Do you sell heaters directly?
No, we are a review and comparison site. We help you find the right Dyna-Glo heater and link you to trusted retailers where you can purchase. We earn a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you.
